Modelling beeswax is perfect to encourage the imaginations of children and it’s perfect because it’s okay to make mistakes, you can easily remodel by warming the modelling beeswax in your hands. Beautiful creations can be formed and displayed on nature tables and such like and then later on be
made into something completely different.
A while ago I wrote about how easy it is to make your own beeswax block crayons and now I’m going to tell you it’s just as easy to make your own modelling beeswax. Using non-toxic ingredients that you may already have in your home, it will take barely any time at all to make your modelling beeswax.
If you don’t want to make your own but love the idea of your children having some modelling beeswax then you really can’t go wrong with Stockmar, it’s great quality, beautiful colours and you can just keep on using it again and again.
Here’s how to make it:
- coconut oil
- food colourings
- parchment paper or cupcake cases
- Put some water into your saucepan and bring to a simmer, place bowl on top.
- Put 10g of beeswax into the bowl and melt.
- Slowly add 5g of the grated soap and melt.
- Add 5g of coconut oil.
- Add the food colouring.
- Once combined pour into cupcake case or onto some parchment paper to cool.
Yep that’s it! I told you it was another easy peasy DIY. If you try it let me know how you get on.
Do you always buy your homeschool or arts and crafts supplies or do you usually try to make your own?
As always I’ve made a little video you can watch if you’d like to see me make some modelling beeswax.
Until next time,
Pin it for later!
